Arrive at Douala International Airport and transfer to Buea (approximately 2.5 hours drive). Check into your accommodations and meet your professional mountain guides. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing to the altitude and preparing your trekking equipment. Evening briefing on the trek ahead, safety protocols, and weather conditions.
Early breakfast at 06:00 followed by the start of your trek. Begin at Buea Gate (950m) and trek through lush vegetation, passing through farmland and tropical forest. The trail ascends steadily with spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Reach Third Hut Camp (2,207m) by afternoon. Rest, acclimatize, and prepare for the higher elevations ahead. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Start before dawn (04:00) for the final push to the summit. Trek through montane grassland and volcanic terrain as the sun rises. Reach Mount Cameroon's summit (4,095m) by mid-morning. Enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Bioko Island, and the volcanic landscape. Descend to Crater Camp (3,800m) for rest and acclimatization. Prepare for potential altitude challenges and rest well for recovery.
After breakfast, descend the western slopes of Mount Cameroon toward Limbe. The trek passes through diverse ecosystems with spectacular coastal views. Trek through lush vegetation and reach Limbe (sea level) by late afternoon. The descent takes approximately 5-6 hours. Check into your beachfront hotel and relax after two days of intensive trekking. Optional evening walk along Limbe Beach.
Spend a leisurely morning recovering from the trek. Visit the Limbe Zoological Garden to see wildlife rehabilitation efforts, or enjoy a spa treatment at your hotel. Afternoon at leisure for swimming, beachside relaxation, or exploring local restaurants. Transfer to Douala International Airport for your international departure based on flight schedule.
