Landing at Douala International Airport, you'll meet your local representative who handles immigration and baggage for you. From there, it's a short drive to La Falaise Bonapriso hotel in the Bonapriso district. After settling in, you can either kick back at the hotel or take a walk around the neighborhood to get your bearings. Come evening, there's a welcome dinner at the hotel restaurant where your guide walks through what you'll be doing over the next few days.
Following breakfast, you'll head into the highlands of Western Cameroon toward Bandjoun, a significant Bamileke chiefdom. The Chief's Palace and museum give you insight into Bandjoun history, rituals, and cultural development. Then it's through rolling green hills to Bafoussam, the regional capital of the West region. You'll check in at Hotel Zingana for dinner and the night.
After breakfast, drive to Foumban, the historic heart of the Bamoun Kingdom. The Sultan's Palace and royal museum house ancestral masks, bronze works, ritual objects, and royal regalia from centuries past. You'll also see the grand mosque and walk through the artisan quarter where sculptors, blacksmiths, and embroiderers work. Late afternoon takes you to Bangou, a highland village, where you stay at Tagidor Garden Resort.
After an early breakfast, cross the western plateau toward Dschang, a cool mountain town. The Museum of Civilizations traces Cameroon from precolonial times through today. The road then drops into warm plains before climbing again toward the Southwest Region. Buea sits on Mount Cameroon's slopes, the tallest peak in Central and West Africa. You'll stay at Mountain Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast comes with Mount Cameroon views, then a guided tour of Buea shows you its colonial German past and historic buildings. At Bonalyonga, you'll meet the paramount chief or local notables who share Bakweri history and culture. Afterward, drive down to the coast and Limbe. You'll see the 1999 lava flow at Bakingili and slave relics at Bonangombe. Dinner is seafood at Down Beach, then check in at Marcsons Hotels & Resorts.
This day focuses on relaxation and gentle activities. After breakfast, visit the Limbe Botanic Garden, one of Central Africa's oldest, with medicinal plants and exotic trees. You can also visit the Limbe Wildlife Centre for primate rehabilitation and conservation work. The afternoon is yours to enjoy the volcanic black-sand beaches, walk the coast, or relax at your hotel. Dinner and overnight in Limbe.
Leaving Limbe after breakfast, you'll drive back to Douala by late morning. A guided city tour starts in Bonanjo's administrative district with colonial-era buildings. You'll see King Bell's historic Pagoda, then move through the busy Akwa streets and central market. Walking through residential neighborhoods like Bonamoussadi, Makepe, and Kotto shows you modern Douala life. Evening brings you back to La Falaise Bonapriso for dinner and overnight.
Your last full day in Douala is flexible based on your interests. You might browse craft markets for souvenirs, check out the Maritime Museum for regional maritime history, or take a scenic pirogue ride on the Wouri River. If you prefer downtime, the hotel offers a comfortable space to unwind. Your final dinner in Cameroon happens this evening as you prepare for tomorrow's departure.
After breakfast, you'll have free time depending on your flight departure, perhaps one last walk around Bonapriso. Check out of the hotel and transfer to Douala International Airport for your return flight, wrapping up a trip filled with cultural sites, history, and coastal experiences.
